Divine Knowledge

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.” Isaiah 40:28

God created man with the intellect to acquire great knowledge and understanding. So much so that we tend to think we know it all! Consider the Tower of Babel, the people sought to make themselves one and build a tower up to heaven. Perhaps they thought they would prevent another flood and preserve themselves…but God had already promised to never destroy the world by a flood again. God commanded that they disperse and replenish the earth; they decided to “stay together” that was in direct opposition to the will of God. We know what the results were, God confounded their speech and scattered them abroad anyway.

It is a sad thing for us to think that we can surpass the knowledge of God. This thinking is satanic and a ploy of the enemy. God is omniscient and our Creator. He has made us, and we are the sheep of His pasture, therefore we must follow where He leads. It is God’s prerogative to be universal monarch, Lord of all, and King of kings; any man that aims at it offers to step into the throne of God, who will not give His glory to another.

So, what should we do to avoid falling into Satan’s trap of self- sufficiency and disobedience to God? First and foremost, we must humbly recognize and respect the omniscience of God. “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.” Isaiah 40:28. We cannot even begin to imagine the thoughts of our Almighty God; they are not ours and exceed our finite existence. He is God!

We must stay in our place, remembering that He is the only Potentate; He rules and controls all things in heaven and earth. That means that He along orchestrates our going in and coming out now and forevermore. All that we know and understand comes from God. If we want wisdom, James 1:5 state “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” He will lovingly provide it for us according to His divine will.

He is our Heavenly Father who provides, protects, and leads us along this journey called life; He is due our reverence and praise; Jesus befittingly gives God the praise and honor at the onset of this prayer and ends likewise: “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

Above all things let us do according to the words of Peter “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” 1Peter 5:6  and Isaiah 68:4 “But now, O Lordthou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”

Let us praise God for all His blessings and trust in His divine knowledge now and forever!
