Turning Down the Heat

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Romans 8:28 is a well-known verse of scripture that brings peace and comfort to the heart of God’s beloved children. It reminds us of How God is orchestrating the circumstances in our lives for our good. However, many times we skip over “all things” in this verse. . . all is inclusive meaning everything; God is controlling it all; because it is working for our good does not mean that we will not suffer physical, spiritual, or even emotional difficulties in life.

We have a merciful and loving God who safely guides, heals, provides, and keeps us safe now and forever; therefore, we can trust and hope in these words “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

If you are old enough you have most likely said it and heard the phrase, if you cannot take the heat, get out of the kitchen! That may sound catchy, but not realistic in life; there are circumstances that we cannot just check out and leave. Illnesses, losses, and devastation are not just situations that we decide to avoid and walk away from. Life happens, but praise be to God, Psalm 46:1 state “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

In the darkest of night, we can depend on God. He will succor and keep us safe from all hurt and devastation. We are safe in His arms! The Psalmist in 46:2-3 admonishes us not to fear, even when facing some very cataclysmic occurrences “Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.”

Why does he admonish us not to fear? Because GOD is right in the midst of it all and He simply turns down the heat in our lives my friend. “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.” Psalm 46:7. Yes, things will happen beyond our control, but there is safety in the power and purposes of God!

Trust and hold to His unchanging hands!
