Not Abandoned
“And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?” Luke 24:17
“No matter what storm you face, you need to know that God loves you. He has not abandoned you.” -Franklin Graham. Life can usher us some devastating blows, times when it appears as though we can no longer hold on…but I like this quote written by Mr. Graham; it takes us straight to the source of our strength . . . regardless to what is happening or ever will happen, we can rest in the promises that God loves us and will never leave or forsake us.
The account of two men traveling on the road to Emmaus in Luke chapter twenty-four, gives evident to the presence and power of God to lift, sustain, and empower us in the darkest of hours. The two disciples were despondent and sad; they walked recounting the events of the past few days, how Jesus was crucified, buried, and missing from the grave; even reported to have been seen by some of the women. Their countenance was saddened, then Jesus joins the walk, unbeknown to them. He is never late my friends, buy always right on time!
As the men continued to walk along the way He began to enlighten their eyes, and finally as they invited Him in to stay and He broke the bread of life with them, just when they thought all hope was gone, they were blessed beyond measure . . . “And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?” Luke 24:30-32.
We can rest in the assurance that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever more! He will meet us just where we are in those times of sadness or uncertainty; His Word reminds us of His unconditional love, and security. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13.
If you may find yourself there today, know that you are not abandon…His promises are faithful and true and yes, it is a fact that He will never put more on us than we are able to bear. We can cling to the power, presence, and eternal existence of the Great I AM! “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5.
God’s abundant blessings and peace, never forget that we are safe in His everlasting arms!
