Joy Promised

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. “ Psalm 30:5

Trials, tribulations and afflictions are experienced by us all at some juncture in our lives. In the book of Psalms David wrote often of His afflictions and trials facing the enemy. The wonderful thing is that he always extolled God for His healing and deliverance. Psalm 34:19 assures us that “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

In the 30th Psalm which is attributed to David, some commentators assumed that David had just recovered from a critical illness. The entire psalm speaks of his unceasing thanksgiving and praise to our Almighty Healer!

Wherein God has so magnificently given man the knowledge and gift of healing through medicine and modern technology, we tend to readily forget the One who is responsible for all our healing. God alone is our ultimate healer.  So, just as David sings this Psalm of praise and thanksgiving for his healing and deliverance, we must also raise our voices in thanks for the innumerous victories in our lives!

We must forever witness of His goodness and His sustaining power through our valley experiences. Let us raise our voices and also admonish others to join us in praise. “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.” Psalm 150:6

The fifth verse brings much comfort, hope and above all joy to our hearts; “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”  It gives us parallels between God’s anger and life; His anger only last for a brief moment, but His love…His favor will endure forever;  our weeping, our trials and tribulations will endure as it appears as the darkness of night, but joy…God’s great joy will come in the morning!

The joy of the Lord is everlasting. It is not a feeling of happiness that can be so fleeting; but joy floods our souls and gives us peace and comfort by the power of God’s amazing grace. “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Romans 14:17

In the final verse, David resolves to express his praise and thanks to God forever. “To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. Psalm 30:12.” Let us resolve to forever give God the glory. We are victorious no matter what our present circumstances may look like; joy is promised. God will deliver… our weeping may endure for the night, but God is faithful and joy will come in the morning.

God blessings and joy remain with you always and let’s exalt Him now and forever!
