The Elect of God

“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” 1 Peter 1:1.

The value of good people should not be determined by their external conditions. Unfortunately, the world sees good as having great possessions of wealth and acclaim before men. In first Peter chapter one we find and account of his care, compassion, and consolation for the elect; those chosen by the foreknowledge of God, yet they were persecuted, poor and dispersed abroad “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” 1 Peter 1:1.

The apostle Peter describes the saints by the highest office that one can attain in this life, elect according to the foreknowledge of God. . . one chosen by the divine counsel of God’s will. They may have been ostracized by the world, but they were held in high esteem with our Great and Almighty God!

Every born-again believer is elected by God the Father, sanctified by the process of the Holy Spirit’s power that lives within us and only secured and made possible by the obedience and sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the cross…who shed His blood for the redemption of His precious possession; the end result is salvation and eternal life. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” Titus 3:5.

Make no mistake about it, we are a peculiar people…the elect of God; “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;” 1 Peter 2:9.

Let us walk in His divine purpose; as lights in this dark world; regardless to our physical circumstances in this present age… the power that lives within us is far greater than the constraints of this world; we must never cease to pray for the strengthening of our inner man, that we may be found worthy of our calling.

The Lord has given to each of us gifts according to His divine will; we are to acknowledge and use them for the upbuilding of His kingdom.  “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.” Romans 12:6-8.

As an elect child of God, are you using your God given gifts for His glory and the edification of others-we will all give an account for this life; don’t let Him catch you with your works undone! “For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14.

God blessings, grace and mercy…what will you do today?
