Forgetfulness

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalm 103:2.

Getting engrossed in something, or too much multitasking can easily cause us to forget something; I am notorious about forgetting I left something on the stove cooking on high; I literally not only burn the food, but pots as well.  I get so involved in my studies or writings and it appears that only minutes have passed, but in actuality much more time has escaped, then I smell the burnt food!

We can recover food, pots, and most of the temporal things that we can lose. But Satan has a tactic in using our emotions to get us caught up in the rat race of life; the job, family, financial troubles, extra-curricular activities among a host of others, impacted with dwelling on negative past experiences and circumstances; all of which can easily take our focus off God and place them on self-defeating thoughts that can lead us down a path of anxiety, fear, and worry. Psalm 103:2 state “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”

When we just think on the goodness of God and all His benefits…we cannot help but burst in to praise and honor for His loving kindness and faithfulness! Romans 5:3-5 reminds us “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” The word of God tell us to glory in tribulations…all things are working out for our good.

The very things that the enemy of our souls use to take our focus off God…sends us right to Him! Glory hallelujah! When we consider How great our God is and how His wonderful acts of goodness blesses us with unspeakable joy…the feelings of defeat will disappear and are replaced with the assurance of God’s amazing grace; and our response is to bless Him with all that is within us!

So, to God goes all the glory through it all and we have the victory in Jesus…God always wins my friends, and He is worthy of our praise from the rising and setting of the sun. The greatest blessing of all is the assurance of eternal life. May we never get so caught up that we forget where all our benefits come from, and we can proclaim as David did in psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Praise God today and always…for He is worthy!
