God Knows

“And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27.

Have you ever been at a place in your life when you have no idea which way to turn, should I go left or right? In times of indecision and fear we can trust in God to perfect His divine will in our lives. I am reminded of the incident of a former Roman Catholic priest named James Kavanaugh and his meeting with Mother Theresa. He asked her to pray for him to have a sense of clarity on how to spend the rest of his life; he was taken back when she refused, he was also surprised when she laughed and stated that she never had clarity, but always had trust; therefore, she would pray for him to have trust.

The scripture reminds us in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” When we can see the object that we seek or desire, then there is no need for faith. The child of God’s faith brings the invisible to spiritual visibility; it is based on the one who provides the substance that we are hoping for; His name is Jesus Christ our Lord, the Alpha and Omega. We can faithfully trust in His promises to see us through even our darkest hour.

The book of Judges chapters 6-8 gives us an account of the judge named Gideon. God called him to deliver the Israelites for the Midianites. Gideon at this point in the scripture was at a “crossroad,” He could only see his own inability and fear for such an insurmountable task; he was to defeat the Midianite army of over 135 thousand soldiers with only three hundred men! He purposed in his heart to follow God’s command, but in his weakness and fear, needed another word from the Lord. God answered and provided the assurance and encouragement that Gideon needed to complete His call.

God still hears His children today when we cry out to Him. The word tells us in Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” We must run to the foot of the cross…God knows exactly where we are and His grace is more than sufficient to meet our need; His unfailing love provides strength, peace, and comfort in the times of our deepest distress, His mercy is everlasting.

There is nothing like the sweet peace that God ushers into our souls when we are experiencing unrest and heartache; Jesus is that bright shining light at the end of every dark tunnel. . .  let us  faithfully hold to His unchanging hands now and forever.

God’s peace and love be with us all.
