Have You Heard?
“And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.” Luke 18:36.
A certain blind man set at the wayside on the road to Jericho; suddenly, he heard a great commotion, Luke 18:36 state “And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.” they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. He immediately cried out to Jesus, saying Thou Son of David have mercy on me. But the crowds rebuked him, but he cried out even the more. Jesus heard his cry and had him brought to him. He asked him what he desired for him to do; he answered: Lord, that I may receive my sight. Luke 18:42-43 states “And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
What a wonderful testimony of the man’s faith in Jesus to help and deliver him at that very moment, regardless of the opposition; note that when the blind man heard that Jesus was passing by, that he began to cry out for him to have mercy on him; he already knew who Jesus was, and not only did he know him, but he firmly believed that he had the power to provide all that he needed and refused to be quieted in his cries.
Praise God, he may have been physically blind, but he had heard about a man name Jesus, who has miraculous wonderworking power! Hebrews 11:6 reminds us “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Just like the poor blind beggar, we cannot allow the influences of others to suppress our prayers; the prayer of faith will never go out in vain. God hears our cries “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24. Jesus answered the man’s prayers and healed him that day. He is the same ever merciful and compassion Lord, who hears our prayers today…what is that you need at this very moment…the saints of old would say, call Him up and tell what you need; my friends I am here to tell you that He is closer than the very air that we breathe. . . He is able to heal and deliver!
Have you heard this morning about a man name Jesus who has miraculous wonderworking power? The Gwma Mass Choir sings it so profoundly… again, I ask you have anybody heard about my Jesus…have you tried Him in the midnight hour’ He is the greatest friend of all?!
You can call Him everyday,
even when you can’t find your way.
He’ll be there to supply your needs,
He’s the only true friend indeed;
He’s the greatest friend of all, have you heard?
