Forgiveness and Love
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
We can debate, discuss, and contemplate many things in life; but nothing is greater than securing our eternal destination. Young, old, rich, or poor, we have all inherited a sin nature and headed to an eternal state to live without God. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.
Sin was imputed unto us by Adam, which separated all men from God. Man was created by God in His image to live in eternal relationship with Him. The nature and will of man to sin forfeits that perfect relationship with God. Yet, God’s unconditional love for us has reconciled man back to Him. Romans 5:15 tells us “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.”
My friends, Jesus paid it all on Calvary’s Cross one day, and He alone defeated the penalty of sin which is death. His death was a substitution for our death and eternal separation from God. We can now have forgiveness of our sins and received eternal life if we believe and accept His gift of salvation. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
The hope of every born-again believer is the assurance of living eternally with our heavenly Father. However, it is an individual decision to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We cannot receive salvation based on anyone else. It is only through personally knowing God and His only begotten Son that establishes an intimate relationship with God forever.
Where is your spiritual walk today – have you accepted the amazing grace of God and secured your eternal destination? If not, please recognize that our souls will return to God who breathed life into us when He calls. “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 24:44. Today is the day of salvation; no man knows when His soul will be required; when He knocks on the door of your heart will you answer the call?
Every born-again believer has been commissioned to the ministry of evangelism or spreading the gospel to the world. “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2. We must witness to the love of God that now resides in us . . . won’t you throw out the lifeline today? Edwin S. Ufford wrote these lyrics:
Throw out the lifeline across the dark wave;
There is a brother whom someone should save;
Somebody’s brother! Oh, who then will dare
To throw out the lifeline, his peril to share?
Refrain:
Throw out the lifeline! Throw out the lifeline!
Someone is drifting away;
Throw out the lifeline! Throw out the lifeline!
Someone is sinking today.
God blessings, peace, and empowerment to spread the gospel wherever we go!
