Answered Prayer
“Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.”1 Kings 20:5
God hears the cries of his children. Prayer is one of the most valuable resources that we possess. It gives us strength, courage, and hope for every tomorrow. There are numerous examples of God answering he prayers of his saints in the bible.
One in particular is the prayer of Hezekiah when he was sick. Even as he wept the Lord was answering his prayer; God spoke to the prophet Isaiah as he was leaving the temple to turn around and go give Hezekiah a word. “Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.”1 Kings 20:5.
Our God is omnipotent and Sovereign…He knows our every thought, need and desire. He will answer our call. We know by experience that sometimes He answers yes, no or wait. But He is faithful to answer our call. Our tears are only temporary, just as He did for Hezekiah; God loves all of His children, and He will meet us at the place that we need Him the most.
God manifest His glory in the lives of His people; healing, peace and many other blessings are displays of His loving nature and points to His sovereign control of all circumstances. We cannot help but witness to His glory when He blesses us or uses us as a blessing in the lives of others.
As an active participant in a group of Christian women who come together on one accord for intercessory prayer, my heart overflows with the constant praise reports of God’s amazing grace on those we have faithfully lifted before God. This keeps us committed and steadfast in prayer…regardless to the answer the praise is always due to God for His greatness, compassion, and sovereignty.
David extols God in 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 and it expresses his thankfulness towards our gracious and Almighty Creator. “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.:
Let us humbly bow before God and thank Him for every answered prayer now and in the future. Our God is great, and He is worthy to be praised!
