The Living Bread

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” John 6:51

There are many important things to learn in life, but there is only one thing that really matters and determines our eternal destiny: our acceptance of God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ the Bread of life. John 6:51 state “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

The provision of a bread like substance called manna from heaven for the Israelites, was a physical manifestation with a spiritual connotation of life eternal. God spoke unto Moses these words “Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.” Exodus 16:4. God provided this life-giving substance, that they would not hunger or die in the wilderness.

The good news is that God sent the true bread from heaven that feeds our souls with everlasting life. “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.” John 6:32. Jesus became spiritual bread for us to partake of; He gave His body to be crucified on the cross; His broken body and shed blood has paid the price for our sins, and because of His obedience unto death, God has raised Him from the dead and through Him we have the right to life eternal. “For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.” John 6:33.

The Holy Communion is a physical representation of Christ sacrificial love for all humanity and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19. It symbolizes that Christ lives within our hearts and nothing can every separate us from the love of God!

My dear friends, do you have the Bread of Life today? “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. Unless you partake of this bread from heaven, you will be separated from God forever. All life originates with God . . .  “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7. The soul that God has given us will return to Him one day…where will you spend eternity?

Salvation is free, it is a gift from God. Romans 10:9 state “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, time is winding up…today is the day of salvation, yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised, Jesus is calling today…won’t you let Him in? “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.

An empty grave is there to prove that Jesus lives! and all who accepts Him as Lord and Savior will live with Him forever. “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:” Romans 6:4-5.

God blessings of love and peace be with us all.
