I Know Where You Are
“And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27
Have you ever been at a place in your life when you had no idea which way to turn- and outright looking for a word from the Lord? In times of indecision and fear we can trust in God to perfect His divine will in our lives. I am reminded of the incident of was a Roman Catholic priest named James Kavanaugh and his meeting with Mother Theresa. He asked her to pray for him to have a sense of clarity on how to spend the rest of his life; he was taken back when she refused, knowing that God had blessed her with so much clarity in her walk, he was also surprised when she laughed and stated that she never had clarity; but always had trust. Therefore, she would pray for him to have trust.
The scripture reminds us in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” When we can see the object that we seek or desire, then there is no need for faith. The child of God’s faith brings the invisible into spiritual visibility; it is based on the One who provides the substance that we are hoping for, His name is Jesus! He is our all and all, our Almighty God! We can faithfully trust in His promises to see us through even the darkest of circumstances.
The book of Judges Chapters 6-9 gives us an account of the judge named Gideon. God called him to deliver the Israelites from the Midianites. Gideon at this point in the scripture was at a “crossroad,” He could only see his own inability and fear for such an insurmountable task which God had command him to do; he was to defeat the Midianite army of over one hundred-thirty-five thousand soldiers with a mere three hundred men!
He purposed to follow God’s command, but definitely needed another word from the Lord; God answered and provided the assurance and encouragement that Gideon needed to have the victory…He stepped in my friends and did the impossible! “And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the Lord set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.” Judges 7:22.
God still hears His children today when we cry out to Him. The Word of the Lord tells us in Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” We must run to the foot of the cross…God lovingly says I know where you are; I see your heart and understand your where you are; weary, worn, and tired…just trust me my child and I will use you for my glory and give you the strength to run your race.
Just like Gideon, what a comfort it is to know that our God knows our hearts; He will also give us the assurance and encouragement that we need to face whatever we must encounter on this journey called life; let us hold to God’s unchanging hands, resting in the knowledge that He knows the way that we should go and will keep us safe in His everlasting arms forever!
God’s peace and grace be yours today and always.
