A Proven Witness
“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.” Psalm 26:7
A witness can be described as someone who sees or have been involved in an event. To say that the witness is proven is to say that the account is credible.
In Psalm twenty-six King David gives a self-defense of his life being one that was separated to God and away from the world. He sought God for vindication and was confident that he could be found with genuineness and sincerity in his walk of faith. God’s lovingkindness and wonderful works evoke praise, thanksgiving, and honor from David’s constant witness throughout his entire life. He proclaimed his loyalty to be a witness for God in these words “That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.” Psalm 26:7.
How do we measure up today as a proven witness? It is imperative that we stand separate from the world and yet live in the world as a credible witness for His glory. Romans 12:1-2 states “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Every day we are benefits of God’s lovingkindness and grace; therefore, let us strive to give Him our all in our speech and actions with others. We must be ready to give an account of the joy and hope that lives within us; “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” 1 Peter 3:15
A proven witness for God should also be a thankful witness. “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1. In and for all things we must give Him alone the praise and thanksgiving. Others should be able to prove our witness and see what God has done and is doing in our lives. This is possible when we can so easily agree with Jeremiah 20:9 “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.” God’s love for us is incomprehensible and our acclamations of praise and thanksgiving cannot be contained!
Finally, prayerfully we will be found faithful witnesses forever…let us remember “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:”. In the book of Revelation John saw a future vision of overcomers around the throne of God on a sea of glass; they stood victorious against the beast and had the harps of God in their hands. They were singing and giving God praise for His truth, divine justice, and wonderful works. In God we are overcomers in this world and can stand victorious… let us tell the story of how we’ve overcome and one day we will by the grace of Almighty God, our King of Kings, and Lord of Lord’s stand victorious forever!
God blessings and amazing grace keep us all!
