Don’t Fret

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6

Anxiety, worry, fear, distress, agitation, tension, irritability are all common feelings and emotions that attempt to mentally affect us all on a daily basis. I recall being stuck in traffic one morning on the way to an important meeting; I looked up ahead and all I could see was a long line of cars that were barely moving. The clock seemed to move forward in record time! Estimating the time, it would take me to get to my meeting, made things look pretty grim.

I whispered a prayer for God to step in and help me get safely through the traffic, and to my meeting on time. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6.

The creeping traffic brought a spiritual analogy to mind that helped to alleviate my worries immediately. I thought, calm down, and only look at the car directly in front of you, and not at the lengthy line up ahead. The Holy Spirit reminded me that morning to take one day at time; and not spend time anxiously worrying about what will happen next; “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof? Matthew 6:34.

Everything in our lives should be thought of in the same context. Worrying and fretting will not solve the problem or make the time past any slower or quicker; God is in control and holds the future in His hands, and we can trust Him to provide the strength and peace that we need to endure the circumstances that we may find ourselves in at any given moment.

My mind was put at ease that morning with the word of God. I stopped looking at the extensive line and continued to follow the car directly in front of me. We moved slowly, but with continuous moment I came to my exit and made to my meeting on time!

My friends, regardless to how big or small the problem is today, let us choose to cast all our cares on the Lord, not fretting and worrying about what comes next; being confident that our Almighty and faithful God will not only give us the strength, comfort, and peace to walk in this moment of time… but He will deliver! Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.

Praise God, we can trust in His providential care for all our tomorrows…He alone will keep us in perfect peace of mind and heart. But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.

May God’s blessings of strength, patience, and peace keep us all.
