A Bright Light of Hope
“”When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.
What evokes the mind of a person to senselessly harm or kill another human being- mental illness, hatred, prejudices, financial gain? The list could go on and we would still not be able to answer the why and the evil intent of another’s heart. Matthew 15:18-19 warns us “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:”
The news reports increase each day of lives loss to the senseless act of others…and yet, we that know the worth of prayer are forced to fall on our knees to the one true source and heart regulator of all; knowing that there is a bright light called hope in our Great and Almighty God, the One who sees, hears, and knows all about it…we can rest in the assurance that God’s love for us in unconditional.
In this present age we will never cease to combat the onslaughts of hatred, bigotry, greed, and outright disregard for life among those who are controlled by the god of this world and his demonic forces. The Apostle Paul puts us on notice in the book of Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Let us stay steadfast in prayer, encouraging and uplifting others…praying for those in direct authority in our government and especially for those who are weak in mind…able to be easily influenced by the satanic evil that surrounds us. “For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.” Matthew 15:19.
But prayer changes things…and it is one of the greatest gifts that we can give to others… let us never cease to pray for not only ourselves, but for others; the battle is won on our knees! “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” Mark 9:29.
My friends, there is absolutely nothing impossible with God, and one day He will bring healing and peace in the midst of the devastation that we see so rampant in this world; He is the only One who can tear down the strongholds and evil that enters in the hearts of men. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.” Psalm 46:1-3.
No, we cannot replace the lives and wash away the tears of the grieving hearts across our nation…but God is the Comforter of every soul; He has a divine plan far beyond what we are able to understand, and His mercy is everlasting “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.
May we faithfully remain encouraged that our bright light of hope will never fail…it is Jesus the Christ, our Lord and Savior. “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.
God’s comfort, peace, and unfailing love be with us all.
