“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” 2 Corinthians 5:7

James Kavanaugh a former Catholic Priest on an encounter with Mother Theresa, asked her to pray for him to have a sense of clarity on how to spend the rest of his life; he was taken back when she refused and told him that clarity was the very thing that he was clinging on to and needed to let it go. He stated that her response was a surprise since she lived her life with so much clarity . . . she laughed and said that she has never had clarity, but has always had trust, therefore she would pray for him to have trust. It is just natural instincts to want to know what comes next…what is waiting around the corner…then act, but as born- again believers 2 Corinthians 5:7 reminds us “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, where He leads, we must faithfully follow.

As much as man think that he knows…God is sovereign and in total control; it is unwise for us to seek to know every single step that we will take, or to see around the next corner… there are somethings, God knows we just could not handle! Let us learn a lesson from the account of Job after having an intense encounter with God, doing the interrogation, just one of the questions God asked Job was “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.” And this line of questioning went on for some time… until Job humbly submits and answers to our Creator “Then Job answered the Lord, and said, I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.” Job 42:1-3.

God’s thoughts and ways are not ours; we are His creation and we do not have the human capacity to  totally understand Him in all His omnipotence and brilliance… but the good news is that He is merciful and kind, long-suffering towards us and desires for us to have and intimate relationship with Him, we are admonished in the word to come boldly before His throne of grace…and if we desire to have wisdom to ask of God and He will give it to us. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” James 1:5.

My friends, we do not need clarity, and the ability to see every step that we take, or all of the twist and turns in life; but we do need to cling to our trust in God’s unchanging hands. During those times when we desire a sense of clarity in areas we just cannot seem to grasp; let us call on Him to give us the peace that surpasses all understanding and depend on His guiding light to lead us every step of the way. “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.” Psalm 43:3

God is good and His grace is sufficient, He will provide, protect, comfort, and lead us forever. Let us rest safe in the knowledge that He is working all things out for our good; and while we are unable to physically trace His hand; we can certainly spiritually trust His heart! “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust God with what comes next…He’s got this!

God’s love and amazing grace keep you always!
