Not by Might
“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6.
How often do we undertake a task and find ourselves overwhelmed in finding the strength and know how to bring that task to completion? It certainly happens to all of us…my friends, that is the time that we really need a word from the Lord!
Zechariah was a prophet during the time that the children of Israel were being released from the Babylonian exile. While this was a blessing from God to be returning to their homeland…the task was not an easy feat…the naysayers and opposition from the enemy was always on the horizon.
But God sent a word of encouragement to his servant Zerubbabel. “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6. The task would not be completed by human might, or power, but by the divine will, grace, and power of the Holy Ghost!
There is an encouraging message in that for each of us today… whatever it is that we need to accomplish-and the challenges in this life that appear to be much too difficult to endure…we must let go and let God lead the way. The omnipotence of the Holy Spirit provides all that we need to do the divine purposes and will of God!
The apostle Paul penned these words to the saints in Corinth “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. Praise God, we have the power of the Holy Spirit living within…and it is all of God, and none of us…He gets the glory!
So, I too admonish you…to hold on, whatever your circumstances may be today… God will perform His will in your life and know that you can do this, because it is the power of the Holy Ghost that works in and through you…making all the crooked ways straight! “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6b.
God blessings of peace, love, and tender mercies be with you now and forever!
