Life Circumstances
“A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.” Isaiah 42:3.
When does it happen-that debilitating illness, loss of a dear loved one, spouse walks out, job folds under or other financial downfalls? All of these things and many others can catch us unaware and right out of the blue, in a space where you find yourself wondering what comes next, how do I survive this circumstance that appears so catastrophic? Thankfully, for the child of God…there is always hope and a light at the end of the tunnel! “And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.” Psalm 37:9.
My friends, if you find yourself in a circumstance that appears to be insurmountable…just remember that God knows exactly where you are…He has promised to put no more on you than you can bear- Isaiah 42:3 gives us these words of assurance-“A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.” Isaiah 42:3.
A bruised read a very thin plant that is delicate, can be damaged but is not irreparable; the scripture uses this metaphor to show our Savior- Jesus, the Christ, loving kindness and compassion to not destroy those who are weak, vulnerable, or oppressed—but to rather to heal and comfort in those times of greatest need; likewise that smoking flax symbolizes a wick that is just about extinguished…just a flicker- all of your energy or resources are depleted. That’s exactly when God steps in! “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.
The gospel song by Travis Greene states it like this- “When our backs where against the wall, and it looks like it was over…you made a way-you move mountains, you cause walls to fall, with your power, you form miracles, there is nothing that is impossible- and we’re standing here only because you made a way!”
I can testify that God will always make a way-we may not know which way He will come but know this He will come through with the peace, the comfort, the healing, the love- whatever it is that we need, and He keeps on supplying-His fountain of mercy never fails!
Oh yes, life circumstances will come, and may get us down-but there is hope, strength, and amazing grace, in the power of God! Hold on my sisters and brothers, no matter where you are at this very moment physically, spiritually, mentally, financially, keep your head up, the enemy is a lie- God’s got this too, hold to the promises found in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” It may not feel good to you sometimes; but it is working for your good!
Blessings and peace to you all-God is faithful!
