The Son Light
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
One little match light can dispel the darkness in a whole room…but what happens when another light joins-and yet another- it exponentially brightens the room even the more! So, it is with the light of Christ that lives within every born-again believer. “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:14.
Being a light in this dark world is a call to discipleship- all born-again believers are ambassadors for Christ…but how many of us are truly letting our lights shine in this dark world-are we walking the talk– do our words and actions align with the precepts of God?“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
In the Roman empire, pottery making was a lucrative business; during the baking process some vases would become cracked, and the potters would fill the cracks with wax, glazing over it to make it look new; but to prove whether the vase was authentic, it would be held up to the sunlight so that the cracks would appear!
Let us all take a step back and hold our thoughts, and actions up the “Son light” what cracks of impurities will we find-are our hearts sincere-pure and on fire for the Lord? James 2:17 states: “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
Many can talk a good game and really look the part, but fall short in sincerity, and are literally hiding their lights under a bushel. Learning to love and live as God commands is a daily feat and is only done through the power of the Holy Ghost. “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:13.
Are you willing to let go of self and faithfully follow where He leads-putting away the habits and desires of the old man and clinging to the new life that we now have in Christ Jesus our Lord? Jesus is calling! And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:24.
God blessings of peace and grace to all!
