I’ve got a Job to do!
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
Most often I am awake around 5 a.m in the morning. It is my quiet-time, the world outside of my doors at that time is calm and peaceful; the absence of noise presents me with the opportunity to pray, meditate and share a word with you as I make a mental note of what I need to do for the day… but of all the little jobs that hit my to do list, my daily prayer is to be used for God’s glory- to be a light in this dark world, so that some lost soul will come to the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
My friends, I’ve got a job to do..what about you? I had an aha moment with my granddaughter, who is extremely bright, smart and read and comprehends as well as a seventeen year old at nine! and of course she is extremely expressive…Lol (grandma’s bias right?!) a few years ago she decided to read me a bedtime story over the phone one night. .. her book of choice was entitled: “I’ve got a Job to do!” by Dandi Daley Mackall.
The book is about a little girl that takes the reader through her day from the time she leaves for school and returns. When she gets on the bus she describes the children, the bus driver and then she states: I’ve got a job to do… telling them about Jesus! This continues at the lunch table, playground and then back home. She end’s the story with the thought that she has a job to do because of what Jesus has said to us in the book of Matthew 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
At this juncture my granddaughter, is saying; “oh my goodness…this is the best part of the story! I think I’m going to cry…she’s telling everyone about Jesus!” At that moment my thoughts were how precious it is to have a child like faith…innocent, trusting, loving and excited about who Jesus is! “And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:2-3.
So, what about you and I? Each morning that God so graciously wakes us up is a new day to do His will. What are you doing today-does your life shine for Christ-is the love of God spread abroad in your heart for others, what do men say about you- is it evident that He lives in you- do you get excited telling others the good news of the gospel- or, do you let the cares of this world choke you up and unfortunately, you become of no good use for the Master? “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
Every born-again believer shall all appear before the judgment seat of Christ- we will not be judged for our sins, for Christ has already paid the price on Calvary’s Cross for our sins; but we will be judged for the works that we do in this life. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. We must work while it is day for the night cometh when no man can work.
So, don’t let Him catch you with your works undone! AND seeing that you don’t know when He will come to receive you unto himself, every day, every moment should be lived striving to do His will. “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” 1 Corinthians 3:12-15.
We must fervently tell lost souls that they can have life and have it more abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us be about our Father’s business-making a difference in the lives of those of you who do not know Christ as their personal Savior, they must know that HELL is a prepared place for an unprepared people. Every soul will be required to return to God who has created us and we will account for the life that we live.
And if by chance you are reading this and are unsure of your salvation…please allow me to introduce you to Jesus, He is the only One who can give you ETERNAL life. He is the way, the truth, and the life.. you must believe in His atoning work on the cross that washed our sins aways and reconciled sinful man back to God-don’t believe the fallacy of the enemy- that says when you’re dead your done- live it up… nothing matters but what is right here and now! Your soul will live forever– choose to live with the Lord today! “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27.
Again, I’ve got a job to do...telling everybody, about somebody who can save anybody– His name is Jesus!“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
God’s abundant grace and peace be with you all.
