Wait on the Lord

“But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like and eagle; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.

This is a true saying, we are either going through something, coming out of something, or getting ready to go into something! God never promised that this road that we travel called life would be one of ease; But every born-again believer has the peace of knowing that God will take care of us in and through it all. 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us that we can never go wrong when we bring everything to God in prayer! “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Prayer is one of the most valuable resources of the believer; when we come boldly before the throne of grace, pouring out the concerns of our hearts…He hears and will answer. “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” The answer is sometimes immediate or sometimes long coming. But if we just wait on the Lord…He is faithful to come through with the answer!

If you have lived long enough… you know that waiting on the Lord takes faith and patience as we encounter difficult circumstances in this life; but we also know by experience that the promises of God are faithful and true. The Bible tells us that God cannot lie! “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19. if God said it my friends…that settles it!

God in His infinite wisdom has the ultimate plan for our lives, and He holds every tomorrow safe and secure in His everlasting arms. God is setting us up for a blessing far beyond what our mere eyes can see…but we must do our part by patiently waiting on His divine timing. The Apostle Paul penned these words in the book of Romans 5:3-4 “and not only so, but we glory in tribulation also, knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience experience, and experience hope.”

We “glory” in tribulations…difficult and trying experiences may not feel good to us, but they give us a hope that is built on a sure foundation; our steps are being ordered by the Lord, and it is by His strength that we are able to hold on through things that we think are outright impossible; yes, we can depend on God …waiting on His faithfulness as Job 14:14 state  “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.” Jobs hope lied in the faithfulness of God…where is our hope and faith at this very moment…are we willing to wait on the Lord? “But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like and eagle; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.

My friends, when we know without a shadow of a doubt where God has brought us from, and that He alone is the One who has and will always makes a way out of no way, then we can tie a knot at the end of that proverbial rope… and build our hopes on things eternal, and just hold, hold on to God’s unchanging hand… wait on the Lord, He will come through!

May God’s blessings of peace, joy, and comfort, strengthen us for this day…wait I say on the Lord!
