Encouragement in Times of Trials
“Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4
In times like these we certainly need an uplifting word to guide us along the way. Jesus is the Comforter and Lover of our souls…by faith in the word of God, we know that He is the way, the truth, and the life. My friends, an old gospel hymn soothes the soul with these words…be not dismayed whatever betides you…God will take care of you!
Yes…we can always run to the foot of the cross for comfort, guidance, and peace, 2 Corinthians 1:4 reminds us that Jesus is the One “Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” Jesus provides us comfort in all of our trials and tribulations.
The Apostle Paul admonishes us to likewise comfort others with the same comfort that we have been comforted with… everyone is going through something, let us take the time to share an encouraging word, send a note, a text or drop a card in the mail. Be a blessing today and make someone else’s day just a little bit brighter!
Let us keep our minds on the divine providence of our Savior and His loving plans for all His beloved children. I pray that this acrostic will bless your heart as it did mine…there is power in the name of Jesus!
- Jesus brings me here by His will in this straight place; in that will I rejoice.“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”1 Peter 4:12,13)
- Even here He will keep me “in His love” and give me “grace and glory” “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11.
- Surely, He will make the trial “a blessing.” Teaching me lessons He wants me to learn. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28,
- Under the trial I will be quiet for in His good time He will bring me out. Just how and when, only He knows best. “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14.
- So, then I am here by God’s appointment: “So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.” Genesis 45:8.
- In His keeping “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”1 Peter 1:5.
- Under His training “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” Rev. 3:19.
- For His time “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” Eccl.3:11.
- That I may glorify Him “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.” 1 Peter 4:16.
- And comfort others “Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4.
May we freely share the comforting peace and love of God that is in our hearts with others. Be an encourager in Jesus’ name!
