Heal and Not Wound

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” proverbs  16:24.

We have all experienced times when someone spoke positive and uplifting words that  brightened and suddenly changed our entire day!  In our present worldwide circumstances, many people are stressed, on the edge and more often to send messages of anger and annoyance when someone does or says the least thing.

The news cites numerous accounts of road rage or negative altercations against others, this obviously should not be the way that we treat one another. God has admonished us in His Word with these words “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32.

The old English proverb states: You catch more flies with honey than vinegar; the flies represent those things in life that we desire to attract or achieve, the honey represents positive words and actions, and yes, the vinegar is the unpleasant ones that can so easily be said to others. The bottom line is that we should treat others with respect and kindness, seeking to encourage and reflect that which is good and edifying to the soul!

I believe and know that everything good begins at the foot of the cross. We must prayerfully commit our ways unto the Lord; asking Him to guide our speech so that it becomes healing and not hurtful to others… “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14.

I have lived long enough to know that just a little bit of kindness goes a long way, let us carefully watch what we say and seek to earnestly speak words that heal and not hurt; as dear children of God, who walk in the light, let us daily seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit, so that our words will  be more like that (honey) in the old proverb…a  drawing agent that points others to Christ; “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” proverbs  16:24.

May God help us to be like a bright light sitting on a hill… expressing words of love and peace. Everybody is going through something; we never know when someone is at the breaking point, needing to see the light at the end of the tunnel; it just may come from you!

My friends, learn to be humble, an encourager, take time to care!

May God’s peace and grace be with us all.
