What Are You Waiting For?

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23.

How many times do you have a long-awaited task to do…and of course you say to yourself once again…but tomorrow- I’ll get it done. The word procrastination is defined as the act of delaying or putting off tasks that you know need to be done, often until the last minute. The word of the Lord admonishes us in Colossians 3:23-24 about our work ethics in all tasks that we must complete: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23.

What was the message being sent to the Colossians as well as  us from the apostle Paul…I surmise that it is the wholehearted diligence and thankfulness we must embrace when completing everything…why, because ultimately all that we do lead back to God- and He will reward us for the works that we do!  “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is” 1 Corinthians 3:13-14.

We must remember that even the smallest details or what appears to be the most insignifcant task is still our service to God-it must be done with intergrity, gratitude and our whole heart-is your heart in it?

My friends… we all have a God given purpose…have you sought the Lord for yours- if so, the question is what are you waiting for? Luke 12:40 states: “Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.”

I am reminded of the parable Jesus’ told of a wealthy man who delegates his wealth to trusted servants in Matthew 25:14-30. However they were all given different amounts according to their servability- ultimately everyone received return on their investments-except the one who had been given only one talent-he took and hid it…and had nothing to show when the master returned- and what did the master say? Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.” Matthew 25:28.

Please don’t miss the message- it is not about money, but about that which God has given to each of us to do- whether in time, talents or treasures-it all belongs to God, and we will give an account! Again, I ask you…what are you waiting for? Of all the task that we must do-all born-again believers have been given  the most important command of all: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Matthew 19:28.

It is God’s desire that all men be saved: “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:3-4. So, we have a job to do…and must  be about our Fathers’ business-some lost brother or sister in sinking in sin-won’t you throughout the lifeline-what will you do about it today? And may we all hear these words from our Lord and Master one day… His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matthew 25:23.

Now, for all those of who may be procrastinating about your spiritual decision to come to Christ- He is the only way to eternal life; so, I ask you, what are you waiting for- tomorrow just may be too late! While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.” Hebrews 3:15.

God blessings and peace to all!
