It’s Not Political…It’s Spiritual!

Spiritual Warfare and the choice of so many to follow, give and seek self glory oppose to giving it to our all-wise and omnipotent Savior, is blatantly staring us in the face…the word of the Lord, has never left us blind to the enemies attempt to get our focus, love and dependance away from God.   My mother would often say there is nothing new under the sun.

The attempt to overthrow the authority of God begin with the act of Satan’s desire to become like God… “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!” Isaiah 14:12 and  “Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.” Ezekiel 28:17.

The word my friends, is our prescription for life, it gives us all that we need to remain keenly aware of the Spritual Warfare that we are involved in, we must watch as well as pray…being viligant to the wiles of the devil: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8.

Satan hasn’t changed…he is still cunning and deceitful. He knows how to try everything in the book to influence our thoughts, enflating the ego (Edging God Out!) making easily  availble those things that gratify the flesh in pride and lust, keeping our inherent desires for the things of this world ever before our sights and mind. “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world” 1 John 2:16.

Please don’t miss my point-the problem is not polical and it is not about any one individual…but as the apostle Paul admonishes us: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12.

Let us recall King Nebuchadnezzar, the account in the Bible of his successes and failures give us more than one example of pride – which can be defined as the extreme love and focus on oneself. Daniel Chapter 3:1-2 states: “Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain otf Dura, in the province of Babylon. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.”

We know how the test of faith for the three Hebrew boys went when commanded to bow down to the golden image or face a firey furnace…listen to what their reply was: If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” Daniel 3:17-18.

In the midst of all the glitters that this world has to offer- our choice in faith must be steadfast and immovable. The word of the Lord says it best in Joshua 24:15. “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

So, I admonish you to stay in the word, be a bright shining light in this dark world, and meditate on the word of the Lord day and night…putting on the whole armor of God, ultimately enclosing all things with our great spiritual weapon called prayer! the arch-enemy of our souls desires to steal the hope, joy, peace, and love in our hearts from our all-sufficient One!

The good newsis that God never changes! “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6. The promises of God are yea and amen- in Christ we have the victory. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.

Let us all hold tight to God’s unchanging hands, knowing that we are assured of the Lord’s guidance, protection, peace and keeping power from now until eternity. “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,” Jude 24:1.

Blessings, Peace and Grace to all!
