God is Wholly Other!

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.” Isaiah 40:28

God created man with the intellect to acquire great knowledge, understanding and a free will-with these gifts also comes great responsibilty, but unfortunately the human mind has the propensity to think that it is self-sufficient and knows it all!

Consider the Tower of Babel, the people sought to make themselves one and build a tower up to Heaven. Perhaps they thought they would prevent the flood and preserve themselves…but God had already promised to never destroy the world by a flood again. God commanded that they disperse and replenish the earth; but they decided to “stay together” that was in direct opposition to the will of God. Scripture gives us an account of what the results were, God confounded their speech and scattered them abroad anyway. “Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.” Genesis 11:9.

Man’s quest for all knowledge is a fearful and sad thing… God is omniscient and Creator of all. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4:11. It is God’s prerogative to be universal monarch, Lord of all, and King of kings; any man that allows iniquity to set in his heart and seek to usurp the authority of God-is like his father the devil, woe unto this man…for the bible tells us in Hebrews 10:31 “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

God is “wholly other” in Christian theology this term describes the difference between God and everything else. God is completely different than all other things that exist and will not give his glory to another. So, what should we do to avoid falling into Satan’s evil trap of self- sufficiency and disobedience to God’s sovereign will?

First and foremost, we must humbly recognize and respect the omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence of God. “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.” Isaiah 40:28. We cannot even begin to imagine the thoughts of our Almighty God; they are not ours and exceed our finite existence. He is God!

Every living soul must recognize that He is the only Potentate-He rules and controls all things in Heaven and in earth; this means that He alone orchestrates our coming in and going out today and forevermore. All that we already know or will ever need to know comes from God. The word of the Lord admonishes  us in James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”  My friends to do this you must be born-again!

The natural man cannot understand the things of God…but the Spirit of God that lives within all His beloved children, teaches us all things! “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”

But please note this…saved or not…the Lord God Almighty is due reverence and praise from all creation: even the angels in Heaven give God glory, honor and praise! And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 7:11-12.

God- Elohim is supreme and it is He that has made us, knowing whose we are should humble the soul, bringing obedience, honor and glory to Him alone forever. “But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand” Isaiah 69:4.

Therefore, above all things, let us never forget that He is wholly other, may we faithfully do according to the words found in James 4:10. “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”  Let us trust in His faithfulness and acknowledge Him as Lord of all!

God’s blessings of love and peace be with us all.

As you can see I was late in the hour that I read the message. I waited so that it would draw me in and that has blessed me in this very hour.
