The Fight isn’t Physical!

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12.

The immediate reaction to jump out of the way of an oncoming car or object is the human instinct to protect ourselves anyway possible from harm, danger or death and it is called self-preservation…that is true whether it is a physical or mental attack. But for every born-again believer there is a stock difference in how we fight the daily opposition that seek to totally unrattle and destroy us. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11.

When everything against the grain of what you believe and stand for in God’s truth are attacked, the natural defense is to fight back at the antagonist or the opposing individual that has assaulted you; but the word of the Lord reminds us that the fight that we are in is not physical but spiritual! “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12.

Think about it…the Bible reminds us that ‘we wrestle not against flesh and blood.’ So, the source of our opposition is not coming from our neighbor, co-worker, spouse, sister, brother or any other individual that we struggle against-but that old arch enemy the devil- and he comes in the form of spiritual entities of darkness that are seeking to destroy our very souls! “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8.

Spiritual Warfare can be defined as a battle against evil spirits and forces, and against the thoughts and passions that go against God’s will. BUT the good news is that we are equipped to win! “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” 2 Corinthians 2:4.

My friends it is vital that we recognize the true source of our struggles in life… I repeat it is not physical…but spiritual-we must know the real enemy uses people and things to his advantage; but we must resist the very attacks that he uses to undermine God’s authority in our life-desiring to render us weak, defenseless, an unsure of the victory-but praise be to God we can immediately fall to your kness and report his subtile and vicious attacks to the one who fights all of our battles- His name is Jesus- our Jehovah Nissi- meaning “the Lord is our banner,” signifying God as our source of protection and victory!

May God help us all to fight our battles on our knees in prayer and not with retalitative words and actions, but by every word that comes from God. Learn to perservere through the hard times and surrender the problem over to the Lord- trusting in the power of His might! “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11

And last but not least, when you have done all that you can… rest in these words: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”  Psalm 46:10. God is our strong tower- a mighty fortress is He! Find true peace and comfort in the assurance that you have the victory in Jesus!“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4.

God’s peace, grace and protection be with you all!
