Jesus, Be a Fence All Around Me!

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19.

The book of Job gives us an account of how God is in sovereign control of all things. We see how He orchestrates the affairs of Job and allows Satan to touch everything that he has except his life. Job 1:7 states “And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” As we continue to understand and seek God for wisdom in reference to spiritual warfare, we must remain vigilant in our awareness of our true enemy. Satan is the arch-enemy of our souls.

The scripture assures us that “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19. Life is full of mountain peaks and valleys, but God has a perfect plan that is molding us into His image. Therefore, we must take heart and learn to live one day at a time, trusting God and His faithfulness to lead, guide, and protect  us in all that we do.

As we consider all that is going on around us at this present time it can be mind boggling to handle what we see, hear and even experience. But we are assured by God’s grace that every circumstance we encounter is in the permissive will of God; so whether He has allowed Satan to try us or not; we know that He alone has divine providence. Roman 8:28 states “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

In those times when we encounter things that we have no earthly idea how to handle, we must run to the foot of the cross, adhering to the words in Psalm 121:1 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.”  Let us be assured that God is as faithful as He has always been.

The present chaotic natural occurrences that are plaguing the earth are all in His hands; fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, illnesses, and diseases are all things that mere man has absolutely no control over. But God knows all about our troubles and He will lovingly keep us safe in His everlasting arms. “Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;” Psalm 46:2.

Faith is able to dispel all of our fears…so let’s rest lovingly in His care and remember the words of the hymn Jesus be a fence all around me to comfort our hearts:

Jesus be a fence all around me everyday

Jesus I want you to protect me as I travel along the way

I know you can (yes Lord)

I know you will (yes Lord)

Fight my battle (yes Lord)

If I just keep still (yes lord)

Lord be a fence all around me everyday

My friends we can cling to His word, knowing that He will be that proverbial fence all around us. “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4.

God blessings and joy to you all.
