A Promise of Comfort
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.
God is the joy and strength of our lives…only His amazing grace will comfort, guide, and keep us in perfect peace. When we need to run to the foot of the cross, there we will find rest for our weary souls. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help, My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2.
In times of spiritual unrest and the storms that will come in life, I fall to my face and my heart cries out unto the Lord:: I need Thee, oh, I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee.
That is when the Holy Spirit readily reminds me of the promise found in Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
It has been said that the value of a promise is as good as the promiser; Numbers 23:19 states “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” We can depend on God to keep every last promise in His word!
What do you need today- healing in your body, strength and comfort of heart, spiritual peace, or guidance to see your way through? Take it all to the Lord in prayer and He will faithfully come through. King David wrote these words of assurance in his older years “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.” Psalm 37:25-26.
Our divine Promise Keeper succours us in times of trouble; the word succor goes far beyond, the thought of just helping someone…it expresses the aide of one who is able to provide support and immediate relief in times of deep hardship, extreme pain, and distress; Jesus my dear friends succours us in the storms of life; we are hidden behind the proverbial rock of ages!
Yes, pain, loss, and trouble comes to us all, but we can stand on the promises of our faithful and Almighty God. Let us be encouraged by these words of comfort from our Savior is the God of all comfort!. “”Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.
God blessings of peace, comfort, joy, strength, and amazing grace be with us all.
