God Mends Our Brokenness
“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalms 34:18
Pain, discouragement, and all kinds of trouble are a part of this sinful world and as long as we are living on this side of Heaven, we will experience trials and tribulations. There are some things that crush the spirit and leave us broken hearted. Does that mean God loves us any less…oh no my friends, that is just when He is closer than we could ever imagine! Psalm 34:18 state “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
The Lord God Almighty, in His omniscience knows everything there is to know about us- the word reminds us that He knows the very hairs that are on our heads, and He loves us so much that one Friday afternoon He died on Calvary’s cross for the sins of the whole world, and praise God, He got up from the grave on the third day morning with all power in His hands… there is absolutely nothing impossible with God-so I ask you, won’t He also heal our brokenness from the light afflictions of this world? “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” 2 Corinthians 4:17.
It is to Him that we must look in suffering and pain, when all hope appears to be gone. The old gospel hymn states When the loads bear down so heavy, the weight is shown upon my brow. There’s a sweet relief in knowing, the Lord will make a way somehow!
As David wrote in the Twenty-third Psalm…the Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want- my friends we are always under God’s protective and watchful care. . . wherever you are at this exact moment…God is right there administering to your heart, mind, body and soul- “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:7-10. God’s right hand… is a metaphor for His compassion and love, holds us forever!
Are you there today- broken hearted and leaning on His everlasting arms? God will take care of you . . . rest in the comfort of knowing, that even when we do not understand His purposes- He is preparing us for something greater. “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12.
God love, peace, comfort and protective care be with you always.
