Wait on the Lord

“But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like and eagle; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.

Wait is an action that is defined as the ability to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens; that’s not and easy feat though… we more often than not find it hard to endure difficult circumstances, heartaches, pain, and the unforeseen future…but that is where faith has to step in… faith gives us the ability to hold on to the almighty hands of God!

God never promised that this road that we travel called life would be one of ease; But every born-again believer has the peace of knowing that God will take care of us in and through it all. 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us that we can never go wrong when we bring everything to God in prayer! “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Strength and peace are found at the foot of the cross where we pour out the concerns of our hearts…yes, God hears and He will answer in His on time. “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” The answer is sometimes immediate or sometimes long coming…but our part is to trust and  wait on the Lord…He is faithful to come through with the answer!

If you have lived long enough… you know that waiting on the Lord takes faith and patience as we encounter difficult circumstances in this life; but we also know by experience that the promises of God are faithful and true. 2 Corinthians 1:2o states: For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

The Apostle Paul wrote…that God’s promises in him are yea and amen...exactly what does that mean… “yea” in the original Greek means sure, and amen means firm… what he is saying, is that every last one of God’s promises… are sure and firm-they are unchanging, unwavering, and unmovible. He will do what He says He will do…we can wait and depend on God!

God in His infinite wisdom has the ultimate plan for our lives, and He holds every tomorrow safe and secure in His everlasting arms. God is setting us up for a blessing far beyond what our mere eyes can see…but we must do our part by patiently waiting on His divine timing. “It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.” Lamentations 3:26.

Difficult and trying experiences may not feel good to us, but they produce within us a hope that is built on a sure foundation; our steps are being ordered by the Lord, and it is by His strength that we are able to hold on through things that we think are outright impossible; recall the testimony of Job as he waited on the Lord “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.”

Job’s hope lied in the faithfulness of God…where is our hope and faith at this very moment…are we willing to wait on the Lord until our change comes? “But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like and eagle; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.

My friends, when we know without a shadow of a doubt where God has brought us from, and that He alone is the One who has and will always makes a way out of no way, then we can tie a knot at the end of that proverbial rope… and build our hopes on things eternal, and just hold, hold on to God’s unchanging hand… wait on the Lord, He will come through!

May God’s blessings of peace, joy, and comfort, strengthen us for this day…wait I say on the Lord!
