Stand Still and See the Salvation of the Lord

“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.” Exodus 14:13.
I have often heard my parents say that they were stuck between a rock and hard place, and I wondered what that meant. As an adult I understand exactly what they meant… life can place us in some dire circumstances, and we appear to be cornered in…there is no way to move forward or backward and the only thing we can do is simply stand still. Praise God that He always steps in and shows out!
The children of Israel were in a similar predicament after leaving Egypt…caught between the Red Sea and the fear of Pharaoh’s Army gaining from the rear. But God sent them word of their coming deliverance “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.” Exodus 14:14.
We have to back up and take a good look at How God was orchestrating the events to deliver His people and bring glory to His name. What was the divine plan? First, God spoke to Moses and sent the Israelites in the direction of the Red Sea… then He hardened Pharaoh’s heart to follow after the Israelites thinking he surely had the upper hand. “For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.” Exodus 14:3. God was and still is always working beyond what our eyes can see!
In actuality, Pharaoh’s army was the ones caught between a rock and a hard place with no way out…God does not fight fair; He comes to win! He parted the Red Sea and allowed every single Israelites to walk safely across on dry ground; Pharaoh’s army followed into the greatest trap they could have imagine…the bible tells us that God took the very wheels off the chariots that day and rolled the sea back, the waters overcame Pharaoh’s chariots and horsemen and not one was left alive. There was no denying that the God of the Israelites, our God, is the one true and living God!
Are you caught between a rock and hard place today? Then stand still and see the salvation of the Lord; He is arranging all the events according to His divine plans. The enemy may think that this particular circumstance will create fear, anxiety, disbelief in your heart and possible even utterly destroy you…but God is sovereign, loves us and in is total control; there is absolutely nothing that can thwart the plans of God for His beloved children.
The Apostle Paul admonished us with these words “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9. Rest assured, we have the victory in Jesus… stand still and see the salvation of the Lord in and through it all; being witnesses to His glory and recipients of His love. “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrews 10:23.
God blessings of strength and comfort be with us all.
