Is Your House in Order?

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:3.

There are always those times when someone pops up for a visit unexpectedly! If you had known they would stop by, you would have certainly been ready and placed everything in order in your home to accommodate them, right? In our spiritual lives, we have the promise of an unexpected visitor, death is not a stranger in this life; but it is always unexpected as to the exact date and time. “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 25:13.

While this is somber, but true- and the tears that we shed at the passing of a loved one is natural, all of God’s beloved children can rest in the comfort of Jesus’ words to His disciples, which still apply to every born-again believer today; our hope and assurance is built on living in His eternal presence forever! “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:3.

Jesus promises that He has prepared a place for us where He is…and one day He will return for each of His beloved children. While we know He is coming back for us; he did not specify when… but this is not a problem for the saved, but for the unsaved. Therefore the question if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior,  today is the day of salvation… when will you put your spiritual house in order?

Death is inevitable; and while it is not a topic, we desire to linger on…it is true that the old will soon die, and the young may never get old; some choose to believe that when we die, everything cease to exist. That is a lie that comes straight from arch-enemy of our souls! Our souls will return to our Creator God and He will judge between the saved and unsaved.  The saved shall inherit eternal life and the unsaved will inherit eternal damnation. The question is do you know where you will spend eternity? “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23.

Sin separates us all from God and the only way to be reconciled to Him is through the forgivness of our sins through the atoning work of His only begotten Son our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! The difference between those of us who are saved and the unsaved is that we have accepted Jesus offer of salvation and received the gift of eternal life! “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.

If you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have to agree to the fact that death is imminent and obvious all around us, you can go to any local cemetery and see the numerous tombstones; but know this, death is assured not only once but twice for the unbeliever; and after the first death is a second death that totally separates the soul from God, the consequence is eternal damnation.

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8. So, will you get your house in order- today …Jesus is calling for you to come and receive His gift of salvation!

The good news for those of us who have been saved by God’s amazing grace, is that death is a temporary status or transition; it is just like when fall to sleep for a nap or at night to wake in the morning refreshed and ready for the dawn of a new day! The Apostle Paul wrote these words of the Lord:”But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”

What a comfort to know that those that we love who have gone on before us…are only a sleep in the arms of our Savior; for one day this physical body must be shed to inherit an immortal, glorious body that is incorruptible and will be with the Lord forever!   “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:52.

It does not matter what challenges or decision you will make in this life…there is no greater decision to make then where you will spend eternity… God loves us unconditonally- He has prepared the way for us to live with Him forever…He doesn’t desires for anyone to perish in the eternal fires of damnation, but have everlasting life. Every day that you awake, the life line is being thrown out for you to be saved, won’t you grab ahold? “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Again, I admonish you to get your house in order…Jesus is standing at the door of your heart knocking…let Him in!

God blessings of peace, grace and everlasting mercy be with us all!
