Divine Providence

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6.

Divine providence is the governance of God by which He, with wisdom and love, cares for and directs all things in the universe. The doctrine of divine providence asserts that God is in complete control of all things. Gotquestions.org.

There are those who deny the very existence of God. Divine Providence is logically and psychologically dismissed because they cannot understand how God allows evil in the world. There are many things that we cannot explain, but we can have confidence in the fact that God exist and is the giver and sustainer of all life. We must understand that we need God, God does not need us. He lovingly orchestrates everything for His glory and our good. Philippians 1:6 provides these words of hope and encouragement “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

The account of Joseph being sold into slavery gives divine insight into the working of God behind the scenes from beginning to end. God allowed Joseph’s brothers to kidnap him, sell him as a slave, and then lie to their father for years about his fate. This was wicked, and God was displeased. Yet, at the same time, all their jealous and sin worked toward a greater good: amid all his trials and tribulations, Joseph ended up in Egypt, where he was made the prime minister, Pharoah’s right hand!

God orchestrated the events in Joseph’s life to provide for His people and a broad region during years of famine. On revealing himself to his brothers after living years in Eygpt, Joseph reminded them of God’s divine will to work things for good in Genesis 45:7-9 “And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not:”

My friends, there are periods in our lives when things tend to appear all wrong, twisted, and just not going the right way… but all of God’s children can hold on to the truth that our steps are being ordered by the Lord-His divine providence and protection is at work in our lives. Romans 8:28 holds true “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

So, let us trust where He leads with a pure, loving, and submissive heart; we can rest in the assurance that He knows what is best and is faithful to safely guide us through this journey called life.

Blessings and peace be to you all.

Where He leads me I will follow. This is an old song I heard while growing up. Yes it is difficult sometimes to understand what God is really doing in our lives but we have to TRUST him…
