“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:3.
Thomas Paine wrote, “These are the times that try men’s souls” in The American Crisis (1776), he meant that the hardships of the American Revolution were a test of the colonists’ true character which must be shown in the most difficult of times and demanded great sacrifice. I am reminded of this historical quote because there is nothing new under the sun…we are living in times as Paine wrote more than 250 years later-that try men souls!
We’re in a fight, but don’t get sidetracked… it is spiritual and demands that every born again believer embrace the character to remain resolute in our commitment to the promises and faithulness of God.“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.
Faith is where the rubber meets the road, genuine faith in God is what perseveres through the evil and injustice that is on rampant display in this world; let us recall the Apostle Paul’s admonition to Timothy: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
These things should not take God’s beloved children by surprise- but through faith and the power of the Holy Ghost we don’t have to walk this journey of life as those who have no hope-fearful of the next move by the powers that be… but we can stand grounded in the faith of the One who has All Power The Lord God Almighty! “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” Psalm 62:11.
If you feel that thing are tough…take in consideration the Apostle Paul who was in prison facing imminent death, but yet he wrote these word admonishing us all to hold on to our faith…“If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;” Colossians 1;23. It is truth that faith in God is a powerful force that can overcome obstacles that seem outright impossible!
So, where do you stand today in the midst of the turmoil and injustice we face in the world…trials and tribulations will come as long as we live on this side of Heaven…but as true believers in the faith we must stand as those who are protected and assured the victory – holding to the fact that truth and justice will prevail for there is absolutely nothing impossible with God. “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” Psalm 37:35-37. Scripture, prophecy and history gives evidence…that the promises of God are yea and amen!
Yes we are in a fight against an undeniable furious foe whose desire is to take us out…but he is a defeated foe! the word of the Lord gives us this consolation now and forever: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:35.
My friends, it is the faithful promises and sovereign power of God that guides us safely through this life. He lives within us, teaching, comforting, guiding, protecting, providing and giving us the victory every step of the way; Though the winds may blow vehemetly and times get mighty rough…. our Great and Almighty God is far greater than anything this world can literally throw our way and we can face every tomorrow because of His great mercy and everlasting love! “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:36-37.
Be blessed and hold on to your faith in God!
