Brand New Mercies
“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22
Whenever we begin something new, there is a certain thrill of excitement and hope for all the good that it will bring with it. Waking up each day should be just like that for us all . . . the word of God tells us that “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23.
God’s unfailing love and compassion starts us along our way each day; the old folks would say, and he touched me with his finger of love to see a new day. Every breath that we take comes from God, it is only by His divine will and grace that we have our being. Job 33:4 state “The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”
The hope and expectations that we have are based on the promises and faithfulness of the Lord God Almighty! Whatever this new day may bring we should rest in the security that our omnipotent and sovereign Lord has it all in control. He is the one that orchestrates all things; therefore we can have confidence in the promises that we find in His word, Romans 8:28 state “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
His blessings, love and amazing grace will open new opportunities for us to walk through at the start of each new day…what will we do with them- let us pray as the Psalmist prayed “Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” Psalm 143:8
Let us lovingly place our trust and faith in the one who holds our future safe in His hands, who endows us with blessings of love, compassion, mercy, and great joy; to Him belongs all the glory! “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
Give God the glory today and always for His brand-new mercies!
