Our Succorer

“For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”                                                                                                –Hebrews 2:18 (KJV)

The word succor is defined as the action to literally run to, or run to support; help or relieve another when in difficulty, want or distress; to assist and deliver from suffering; Jesus is our mighty succorer as we travel this life’s journey.

The present state of the world and the chaotic circumstances that we encounter can make things appear to be quiet dismal; but in the midst of life’s ups and downs we have hope in God. We are sustained by Him and all of Satan’s attempts to harm us are to no advantage. Romans 8:37 (KJV) reminds us; “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

His assurance of support is a comfort to our very souls. It allows us to walk, no run with patience, peace and joy. Here are a few points that will help keep our minds at peace:

  • Our eternal and only wise God is our support at all times; especially when we’re sinking deep in trouble.
  • There are no circumstances too difficult for God to overcome.
  • He is more interested in our surrender than our ability. Stop trying to figure everything out
  • When we surrender we allow the Holy Spirit to guide and lead us in His will.
  • Total surrender means that we must trust God in all things.
  • Psalm 18:2 reminds us “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
  • When we let go and let God handle things; His grace of peace and joy can fill our hearts and minds in lieu of fear and despondency.
  • It is vital that we pray every day; prayer keeps us close to God and comforts our hurts, reminds us that God is our faithful healer, provider and deliverer.
  • Give thanks to God who has the divine providence in all things; He has the ultimate plan.

God’s power in us is for greater than our own; this Christian life was never meant to walk alone. Matthew 28:20 (KJV) states; “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

He will always give us strength enough for each day, grace for all of our needs and power to perform our duties for His glory; He is succoring us through these trying times and forever. Praise Him for the victory that is already won!

God blessings and peace keep you today and always.
