What Do You Believe?

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.

Man is constantly searching for “the answer.” There is an inward void that must be filled, a desire to be connected to something far greater than ourselves. But there appears no peace to be found when the future is unclear or the answers to major challenges in life, the pursuit to happiness, a cure for all manner of illness and  continual unity with others is out of our grasp. Yet, the answer sits right in front of our faces, GOD. He is our Creator and source of all things. The scripture reminds us in Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”

It has often been said if you do not believe in something, you will fall for anything. It is tragic to watch how the enemy of our souls lead innocent minds down a path of untruth and destruction. There is only one truth and one way to eternal life…God’s Word guides us in the doctrine that we must believe.

Three spiritual priorities that we must believe:

1. God is… by faith we must believe that He exists and is sovereign over all things. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1. The very first verse in the Holy Bible…this is where faith must start; either you believe that God is or not. If we believe that God is the one true and living supreme being, sovereign, and almighty then all the rest of the bible is believable.

Hebrews 11:6 states “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”  We receive faith by hearing the word of God; the apostle Paul stated in Romans10:17: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  God loves His creation; that means He loves us…He has established a way for us to have an eternal relationship with Him.

2. Jesus is the Living Word of God and the Savior of the world…He is the living Word; He is God who came to the world manifested in the flesh, that we may have the right to everlasting life. John 1:1 state “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” God’s unconditional love for us sent His only begotten Son Jesus, who is “the way, the truth and the life” His truth is our light in this dark world. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me. ” John 14:6.

3. The Holy Spirit is our comfort and keeper: John 14:26 states “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” When we become children of God, we receive the promise given by Jesus to send us a comforter; by the power of God, we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit at the moment of belief that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and our Savior. God’s amazing grace and abundant love guides, comforts, and keeps us safe, through the power of the Holy Ghost that seals us until the day of redemption.

We must stand on nothing less than the truth of God. …there is no other way to guard our hearts, minds, and souls from the onslaughts of the enemy. The truth our light out of darkness and is the only way to spiritual freedom. “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5.

God’s love letter is given to us in sixty-six books that give evidence of His existence and unconditional love for all mankind. It is up to each of us to search it to see it if is so. Won’t you take time today and read of God’s mercy and grace freely given to all who will believe? 1 Peter 2:2 admonishes “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

Stay tuned tomorrow for Part II…How do we hear from God?

God blessings and Peace to all.
