Count Your Blessings

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalm 103:2.

In the stillness of the night a lonely tear rolls down the side of your cheek, things seem dismal and unclear, and suddenly, way deep down in your soul, the memory of how God lovingly delivered, kept, and carried you through circumstance that were far more catastrophic and a still voice speaks to your heart that says this too shall pass! God is faithful my friends, let us remember to count our blessings one by one. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalm 103:2.

Truly God is good to us all. It is a landmine of the enemy to steal our peace and joy. When we constantly focus on an unfavorable circumstance that we are encountering and the things we do not have, visualizing possible negative outcomes, we are at unrest and unable to remember how blessed we are already. God’s grace has saved us and sustains us day by day. The Psalmist reminds us to always give thanks to God “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 118:1.

We can choose to be powerful, or pitiful, the difference is in one we cling to a defeatist and woe is me attitude, or instead we dwell on the goodness of God and all that He has done, walking in the power of the Holy Spirit that strengthens, and reminds us of how merciful God is! “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” Psalm 103:3-4.

There is no place that we can find ourselves that God is not  there empowering and providing for all that we need. We can rest on His unfailing love and faithfulness in times of trouble, He will fulfill His promises to kept and succor us forever. Praise God, He will place a new song in our hearts! “Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;” Psalm 30:11.

So, let us count our blessings, naming them one by one…giving God all the glory for what He has done.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,

When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,

Count your many blessings, name them one by one,

And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

May we all rest in the peace, love, and joy of the Lord today!
