Never Alone

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrew 13:5.

Alone is defined as being without the presence of another, absence of physical, spiritual, or mental contact of another person. Millions of people throughout the world live without the presence of another person living in their homes or dwelling places. Unfortunately, there are those who have succumbed to mental depression, anxiety, substance abuse and even suicide. But I am here to tell someone out there, that the Lord has promised that we are never alone. His divine presence is with His beloved children even in the darkest of hours.

At the age of thirty-five and facing a sudden debilitating illness and unknown future, I had to rely on His promises. My mother was with me but could not go into the dialysis unit with me that day. As I was taken to the procedure…this is the promise that held me in peace: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4. God’s word held true not just then, but it is still holding true today. He is my keeper, comforter, and deliverer in and through every circumstance that I encounter. I am still holding to His unchanging hands for the future, and I am assured that I will abide under the shadow of the Almighty forever.

The faithful promises of the Lord are true for every born-again believer. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. My friends, we need not walk this journey alone or in fear; “for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5b. He abides within us through the power of the Holy Ghost. John 14:26-27 states “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

The way to a sound peace of mind and heart can be found at the foot of the cross; we can hasten to God’s throne of grace praying fervently for His divine guidance and protection. Then, let us learn to speak words of healing and positive affirmations in our lives and in the lives of others. The word teaches us in Colossians 3:16-17 to “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

Watch as well as pray…it is the enemy’s ploy to make us fret, to feel isolated and alone. But never forget that he is the great deceiver, and it is only a lie…we are not walking this journey of life alone; we are safe in our Masters’ everlasting arms.

Austin Miles wrote the lyrics to this beautiful song that still comfort the hearts of many:

In the Garden

I come to the garden alone,

While the dew is still on the roses;

And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,

The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,

And He tells me I am His own,

And the joy we share as we tarry there,

None other has ever known.

God blessings of abundant peace and protection be with us all.
