He Lovingly Succours Me

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
Things can happen at any time or any place, so where do we look for help? There has to be a place of calmness and assuredness that anchors us. Jesus is that place and anchor of safety, He alone will succour and give us the peace to endure whatever circumstances that cross our path. “For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.” Hebrews 2:18.

The word succour denotes the ability to run to the aide of another and help; not just to simply provide support, but to totally lift the burden off of them, that is what Jesus does when we are in distress and trouble. He gets under the load and lifts it, so that we can freely get out from under the weight. He promises to never break us beyond what we are able to withstand “A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.” Matthew 12:20.

At our weakest state, feeling lost for strength, we can lean on the everlasting arms of God. There are times when we can only whisper… His name, “Jesus,” my friends He will answer, every single time and run to our rescue; He is our place of refuge! “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1. There is absolutely no sickness or pain that He cannot heal, when we fall to our knees and come before His throne, He is already there to provide the strength and sinew that we need to endure!

The answer is to look unto Jesus, when we are experiencing trials, sickness, and heartache beyond our control, remember that Jesus bared the cross on Calvary’s Hill, was tortured, sweat great drops of blood for our sakes; He alone has the divine ability to rescue us when there appears to be no way out. Hebrews 12:2 points us to our divine source of help “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” My friends, He has all power!

And just to provide us with an example of His power to make a way out of no way; over in Jeremiah 32:27 the prophet Jeremiah received a word from the Lord about the distressing state the children of Israel were in because of their willful disobedience; they would suffer being driven from their homeland and placed in exile by King Nebuchadnezzar, but in the midst of it all, God through His amazing grace and unfailing love would bring them back to Him and give them a new heart! He posed this question to Jeremiah “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”

How do you answer that question today? Regardless of what we are going through or the cause, there is nothing too hard for God…He can and will see us through this too. Let us faithfully trust in His power to keep, sustain, and succour us forever… He will make a way somehow!

The Lord will make a way somehow, when beneath the cross I bow,
He will take away each sorrow, let Him have your burdens now;
When the loads bears down so heavy the weight is shown upon my brow,

There’s a sweet relief in knowing the Lord will make a way somehow.
Try to do the best in service, try to do the best you can;
When I choose to do the right thing evil’s present on every hand;
I look up and wonder why that good fortune passed me by;

So many nights I toss in pain, wondering what the day will bring;
Then I say to my heart, don’t worry, the Lord will make a way somehow.

God blessings of peace and rest in our souls be with us in and through all things.
