Stay Strong
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” Ephesians 6:10
As a child I can remember watching the cartoon Popeye. Him and his faithful love interest and wife, Olive Oyl would encounter some evil scheme; Popeye would have to save the day. He would eat spinach and his muscles would instantly grow and He could knock out his evil rival Bluto. While the cartoon is a childhood memory, a source of strength to defeat the enemies of our soul is needed every day of our lives. Scripture provides the answer to all that we need “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” Ephesians 6:10.
We fight a formidable foe; alone we do not have the strength or power to defeat him; but the Apostle Paul points us to the source of our strength, the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom we receive strength, power, and might, He enables us to perform our Christian duties, fight against sin, brought on by Satan, an all his demonic forces; for though we live in these earthen vessels, we have all that we need through Christ; He has all power, in and through Him we are assured of the victory. Praise God we are the sheep of His pasture, we can expect His love, care, and protection, depending on His faithfulness, now and forevermore. Zechariah 4:6 state “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.”
Therefore, as born-again believers as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, may we remember that strength in Him comes from a constant diet of study, meditation, and fervent prayer. Lessons learned through our experiences teach and many times literally force us to place our trust and hope in the Lord; “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:3-5.
God is our all in all my friends . . . His Word is faithful and true, we are safe in His everlasting arms; and let us never forget, especially when the mountains of life appear insurmountable to climb, we can find the comfort and encouragement in the words of Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
God blessings and let us stay strong in the Lord!
