Faith

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1.

How many mornings do you contemplate if you can swing your legs on the side of the bed and get up to walk-unless you have a physical impediment, it is not even a thought. What about the chair that you will pull out to sit in for breakfast today, will it hold you or crumble under your weight? The truth is you simply believe that your legs and the chair will perform as usual. These are physical and temporal things that we tend to have so much confidence in; but what about the deeper more spiritual things of life…ultimately our faith must rest in our almighty and invisible God!… “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1. t

No one truly knows what tomorrow will hold… but Faith in God gives substance or visibility to that which is impossible for us to see with the natural eye, spiritual insight brings light that pierces through the darkness- alleviating our fears and uncertainty about what lies ahead; an yes . . . even though the future is unknown to man, it is lovingly orchestrated by the divine providence of God. So, every born again believer lives with an assured  hope and a faithful promise for greater things to come.

My friends, our faith in God is what gives us true peace, it resonates deep down to the very core of our being, giving us unspeakable joy and strength to move forward beyond the trials and tribulations of this life. The old gospel hymn states my hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ blood and His righteousness! and if by any chance you might think that your journey is far beyond what others may have experienced and it appears that you’re all alone in this fight…pull out your Bible, it gives us evidence that we have a great cloud of witnesses that have gone on before us!

The eleventh chapter of Hebrews is often called the faith chapter, the Apostle Paul gives an account of the faithful men and women who believed in God and saw miraculous things happen and moved by His power. “For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11: 2-3.

Life was not a bed of ease for those hallmarks of faith “They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. Hebrews 11: 37-38; but the bible states they obtained a good report through faith!

Where is your faith? In good times and bad, our trust and belief must fully rely on God-constantly leaning on the truth that faith will dominate the fears and anxiety that may plague your hearts…bringing light into the darkest of hours. David wrote this words of deliverance and assuance in Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

Praise God that Jesus alone will give us the peace that surpass all that we can possibly understand, bringing His mercy, love and comfort to our souls. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27. The gospel hymn states it like this…he soothes my doubts and calms my fears!

Let us choose to walk by faith and not sight because our hope is in God; He is proven, tried and truly faithful to His promises… God never fails!

Blessings of peace and God’s great joy be with us all!
