Hidden Treasures
“Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.” Psalm 119:111
Where do you go to seek things of great value, treasures that will last indefinitely? The bible immediately points us in the right directions and admonishes us “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:20-21. The things of this world will eventually pass away, but we have an incorruptible inheritance waiting for us in heaven.
On this journey of life, we have God’s truths, the promises of His divine word written in sixty-six books or His love letter to us. His word gives us assurance and evidence of the innumerous blessings that He has prepared for those who love Him; they are hidden treasures of great value. The psalmist stated: “Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.” Psalm 119:111.
When we are enlightened by the word of God, and we follow and obey where He leads, we will find little golden nuggets to brighten our path as we travel along our way home. Be advised, there are no vacations away from the school of obedience; but what we do have is the unfailing promises of God that if we delight in His word, we will have a blessed life. Psalm 1:2-3 state: “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
God’s word is our true north, it leads us in the paths of righteousness, and in trying times like these, will bring comfort to our very souls; praise God, it is the living water that quenches our thirst and empowers us with spiritual fruit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23.
My friends, the constant companion of every born-again believer, the Holy Spirit will keep us grounded in the word, peaceful in heart and strengthen with everlasting joy for the spiritual fight ahead… John 14:26 state: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
So, let us desire the sincere milk of the word…the hidden treasures that you will find therein are out of this world!
Blessings and peace be with you today and always.
