Anchored in Hope
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13.
A sincere and heartfelt expectation of something we desire will happen, is called hope. It is more than a mere wish because it must be grounded in a belief of something far greater than ourselves. The hope of the born-again believer is placed in God. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1.
Hope that is anchored or clings to the faithfulness of God is sure; it is based on His character which is unfailing. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 19:23. Every day that we breathe is lovingly orchestrated by our Almighty God.
A steadfast hope gives us the will power to push on when all else seems impossible to endure. It provides the way to peace that is totally beyond comprehension and gives joy deep down in our souls; it lifts us up way above the hurts, sorrows and ill treatment that happens as we walk this journey of life.
When our hope is built on the sovereignty of God, it demands and lovingly evokes praise that flows from our hearts…we are lifted, encouraged, and energized in the power of the Holy Ghost when we keep our minds stayed on Jesus and give God the glory; in thankfulness we place all trust and hope in Him.
My friends, when we release our cares and concerns over to God, He fills us with the wisdom to walk in faith. “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19.
Finally, it is all about God living in us; we can be beacons of light as well as endure hard times simultaneously when God dwells deep down in our souls; He will direct our steps, cast out fear, anxiety, and hopelessness. He is the light at the end of the tunnel, and no matter what is transpiring in our lives today, we can trust the unknown future with our omniscient Heavenly Father. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.: 1 John 4:4. Our anchor holds and grips the solid rock!
God blessings of love and peace be with us all.
