“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God.” Philippians 4:6
On this journey of life, we deal with so many unknowns; to the natural man it appears as though things are just simply out of control. But, to the Christian we know that things are right on schedule! If you are reading this and you are not a born-again believer, then you are asking the question at this moment, whose schedule? The answer is God’s schedule.
In the book of Acts 1:7 the disciples questioned Jesus after the resurrection about the end of the Church age; they were excited about His resurrection and wanted to know when they would go with Him. The scripture state “And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.” Jesus gently reminded them that not only was it not necessary for them to know, but that they still had some work to do before the next age. Time and seasons are in God’s hands, we just need to trust and obey in the One who already knows what is best. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God.” Philippians 4:6
It is natural to desire a sense of control in chaotic and unusual circumstances; currently, a world-wide search is on for the answer to when things will change globally. There are those who desire complete normalcy or things to go back to the way they were a few years ago; but every new day is just that…a new day that we have never seen, it has its own blessings and challenges.
The song writer wrote these words: Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus and tomorrow may never be mine . . . the fact is… only God is omniscient and sovereign, He holds this world in His powerful hands. “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” Colossians 1:16-17.
No, we don’t need to know exactly what’s next…but we do need to know that only God has divine providence and safely holds tomorrow in His hands! My friends let us fervently pray for God’s patience and guidance as we do our very best to walk by faith and not by sight. We can rest assured that the Lord will always give us a measure of peace in our hearts when we make everything concerning our lives a matter of prayer. We still have a work to do…every day that He so graciously gives us life and strength, is a new opportunity to make a difference in this present age. So as the old gospel hymn goes . . . Lord, help me today, show me the way, One day at a time.
One day at a time, sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking from You
Just give me the strength to do everyday
What I have to do
Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord, help me today, show me the way, One day at a time.
God’s grace and mercy guides and keep us all!
Yes one day at a time is what we should take.
Thanks Vi great word.
