Power to Defeat the Enemy
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8.
There are numerous Christians who fail to take full advantage of the power that lives within us to defeat the enemy. It is synonymous to a person having a billion dollars in their savings account and living like a pauper. Statistics show great numbers of individuals who live with emotional, physical, and spiritual defeat; yet, the children of God have received power, the power of the Holy Ghost that indwells within. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8.
Ephesians 4:30 state “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” We are sealed or wrapped up with the impenetrable power of the Holy Ghost; there is nothing that is able to pass through or enter the barrier that God has placed in the lives of His dear children.
The question is why are there so many born again believers living with a defeatist attitude? Simply put, the archenemy of our souls seeks to destroy us, and he constantly plants landmines of destruction all along our pathway; he knows that the power of God can and will do awesome and amazing things in and through us for His glory. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7.
Christ died on the cross and arose with all power in His hands. . . we are victorious in Him! As the beloved children of God, we should never walk around as though we have no hope… or that we have lost something; unfortunately, there are many who are searching for deliverance in people, and things of this world; but we must recognize and submit to the power of the Holy Ghost that lives within; He is able to bind all the attacks of the enemy and tear down every stronghold that will come against us. 2 Corinthians 10:4 state (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”
Satan’s weapon of power is not force, but deception. The bible tells us that he is the father of all lies. John 8:44 state: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it
Please be advised that he does not come as a little red devil with horns as depicted in so many pictures that we have seen as small children; we are warned that he transforms into just what we like: 2 Corinthians 11:14 states “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” Satan seeks to destroy us by coming under a false disguise; but when we are grounded in God’s word . . . His truth, we are not so easily tripped up by the lies that he throws our way.
The truth strengthens us for our daily fight with the enemy; we must stay on guard, recognize him for who he is, resist him at all costs, and remaining steadfast in prayer…when we take everything to the Lord is prayer…He will fight our battles!
So, take hold of the truth and the power that lies within you, for with God nothing shall be impossible. Don’t let life’s problems get you down; refuse to listen to anyone who tells you that you are defenseless against the attacks of Satan and his demonic forces…. Ephesians 6:10-11 state: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Be assured that he will attack again, and again, but it is only for a season… God will deliver! “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.“ James 4:7.
In times like these we must live by our convictions…we must know what we believe and why we believe it; we have the power to defeat the enemy by the empowerment of the Holy Ghost. 1 John 4:4 states “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” So, march on Christian Soldiers…on to victory!
Onward, Christian Soldiers
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!
God blessings and peace to all!
