Thankful
“O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 107:1.
I surmise that there are many individuals giving thanks for the innumerous good things that they have received throughout this year, and mainly because it is coming close to the Thanksgiving season! But…praise be to God, in the words of the popular gospel song…every day is a day of thanksgiving!
The old folks would say…if you woke up this morning, clothed in your right mind…thank you Jesus! Just to have woken up on this side of the dirt, some would express is a blessing; and to all we give God the glory-and most important…the word of the Lord, which guides us in all things in this life reminds us “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”1 Thessalonians 5:18.
So, my friends, even before our feet hit the floor; let us give thanks to our Almighty and faithful God, for all His goodness and mercy; “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 107:1.
Regardless to what happened yesterday and knowing that we have no earthly idea what lies ahead for this day… our future is held safe and secure in the hands of the man who stilled the waters of Galilee- let every child of God shout, thank you, Jesus!
Let me leave you with an excerpt from one of my favorite poems by Langston Hughes entitled Mother to Son. “Well, son, I tell you, Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair,” It is an encouragement from a mother to her son; she has weathered many trials and tribulations on Langston’s metaphorical stairs of life…but thanks be to God…she continues to move forward- I would suffice to say she definitely knew about the words stated in Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
God only has the best for His beloved children, and for that we can remain thankful in and thorough all things!
God’s blessings of peace, joy, and amazing grace be with us all!
