I Need Thee, Every Hour

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” Psalm 28:7.

Strength is defined as the quality of being strong: capacity for exertion or endurance. In times of trouble, we find ourselves praying for strength to endure the storms of life. It is a fact that the human spirit fails unless the Holy Spirit prevails; our strength comes only from the Lord. “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” Psalm 28:7.

On this journey of life, there will be trials, tribulations, and losses that appear insurmountable; the book of Job speaks of the plight of our physical condition with these words, Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.” Job 14:1. But even in the midst of all that Job encounter in life, these are the words of faith and hope that he spoke “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:” Job 19:25-26.  My friends, have faith in God…He is faithful and holds all of His beloved children safe and secure in His powerful hands!
I recall a story of a young woman who was walking home from school; a young man who watched her as she passed each day, decided to ask if he could walk with her. She declined his offer. He was obviously hurt from the rejection, especially noticing that she always walked alone. Therefore, he confronted her one day and wanted to know why she refused his offer, especially when he knew she always walked home alone; her response with a smile was…when you see me, I am never alone.
So, when the difficult times comes, and certainly there will be many… let us  faithfully look to the One who has promised to never leave us alone… Jesus the Christ, our LORD and Savior… “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea,  I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10.
,
Remember this, God’s strength is made perfect in our weakest of times; He succors us beneath His everlasting wings when we need it the most! “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.
And yes, when the silent tears roll, my heart whispers and call for the comforting grace of God with these words:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1. He is able to comfort, guide, and keep us in perfect peace; run to the foot of the cross today my friends, Jesus is waiting to meet you there, and provide all that you need!
God blessings and mercy be with us all.
