I Look to You

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

There is a still place way deep down in the soul that the beloved child of God can run for refuge. There is a beautiful song entitled “I Look to You,” sung by the late Whitney Houston. A line from the lyrics state “I look to you, when all my strength is gone, I look to you.” God is the source of our strength and peace when the troubles of our souls seem insurmountable. Psalm 121:1-2 state “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

Every born-again believer can have peace in knowing that our steps are ordered by the Lord; He orchestrates our circumstances according to His divine will, it is for us to let go of the cares and concerns of our hearts, releasing them in the loving hands of God…. “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.  Praise God, He cares for us!

We all know that it is easy to travel along this path of life when things are great, smooth sailing and going in our favor; but when the trials, tribulations, and hurts of life come, we must be able to hold on to something far greater than ourselves; that is when the grace and power of God steps in and carries us through! “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1.

Read and meditate on Psalm 119:105 which reigns ever so true “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” There is absolutely nothing like the comforting peace that the word of God sheds in our souls, for every tear that falls, He ushers in His light and the assurance that we belong to Him, and all is well. “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” Psalm 34:5-6.

My friends, God’s grace is sufficient . . . it is more than enough to lift us beyond anything that we will ever encounter; no matter how rough the road… we are sustained and kept by His power; it is His strength that enables us to live in joy and peace, one day at time. So, your if by chance your head is hanging a little low today… hold your head up and look towards the hills which cometh our help; God is our light in the darkest of hours, and He is closer than the very air that we breathe!  “and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20b.

Blessings and peace be with you all!
